Quick Description:

In 2000, the entrance to the Palais Royal/Musée du Louvre Métro Station was transformed into the Kiosque des Noctambules (Kiosk for Night Owls) by Jean-Michel Othoniel.

Long Description:

This garish entrance Palais Royal/Musée du Louvre station of the Paris Métro serves the number 1 and 7 lines. The station entrance is reserved for persons already holding tickets for the Métro.

In 2000, Jean-Michel Othoniel transformed the original design by Hector Guimard at the Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre Métro station into the Kiosque des Noctambules (Kiosk for Night Owls). An ornate aluminum fence guards the opening of the station. The fence is composed of conjoined rings some of which are decorated with Murano  glass beads. The spectacular canopy is pair of crowns made of Murano glass beads and aluminum. An aluminium bench (for chance encounters) is provided at the back of the fence below the canopy.
