GPS: N43° 48.479 W070° 09.852

Quick Description:

Eartha, the world's largest rotating and revolving globe, is located at the DeLorme Map Store in Yarmouth.

Long Description:

The Eartha rotating and revolving globe has a diameter of 41 feet, a circumference of 130 feet, weight of 5,600 pounds and a surface area of 5,300 square feet. The globe is tilted at a 23.5 degree angle, the same as the earth. The combined rotation (i.e. procession) and revolution on its axis occurs every 18 minutes. Movement is accomplished by two electric computer controlled motors. In addition, the 1:1,000,000 scale shaded relief image of the earth's landmasses and oceans is the largest printed image of the earth ever created.

Eartha was created by the DeLorme staff and is housed it a four storey wing of its map store building.
